Hi, I’m Dr. Alyssa Jones
I am a licensed clinical psychologist who serves Orange County, CA and California-wide via Telehealth.
I have worked in many different settings throughout my career. Most recently, I worked at Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) for 8 years on inpatient medical floors, outpatient clinics, and in mental health services. I helped develop and run an inpatient psychiatric mental health unit and crisis outpatient mental health service. I have dedicated most of my career to ending stigma around mental health, trauma-informed care, and suicide prevention, as well as providing high caliber care to people in search of therapy.
I received my Doctorate and Master’s of Arts in Psychology from Pepperdine University. I completed undergrad at San Diego State University.
As a therapist, I continue to specialize in providing therapy for teens and adults experiencing suicidality, as well as, many other concerns. I love working with the challenges and dynamics of adolescence, as it is such a complex time of life with so many changes emotionally, socially, and physically. In adulthood, I am passionate about working with challenges with life changes, such as parenthood, careers, and relationships, and continuing to provide understand of roots of problems, how they are impacting the present, and what we can do about it in the now.
I pay special attention to different identities people have, and how the intersection of these identities may relate to past or current challenges especially in the context of their environment. I am an affirming therapist and work with people of all backgrounds and identities.
My Approach
Therapy will be tailored to your specific concern or problem with the overarching goal to decrease suffering and improve the quality of your life. You may also have your own goals of what you would like to get out of therapy and we will incorporate them in the therapy process. Through psychodynamic and dialectical behavior-informed approaches, I focus on understanding the roots of your challenges and how to effectively move through them now with increased understanding to create new patterns and skills to use in current situations.
Working with me
In our initial appointments, we will develop an understanding of the current concerns and discuss a treatment plan, which will include goals, expectations, and estimated length of treatment. If you’ve been in therapy or other treatments before that have not worked for you, or you cannot find a therapist to work with you, then I recommend reaching out as I have success in these challenges by helping therapy work for you. I am an affirming therapist and welcome clients of all identities and backgrounds.
